DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan Specialty Center Breaks Ground Groundbreaking for the DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan Specialty Center -Detroit was held November 1. Political dignitaries, Vanguard Health Systems, Detroit Medical Center and Children's Hospital of Michigan leadership, and hospital staff gathered on the site at 3950 Beaubien for the celebration and planned investment in the health of the children in the community. This is the first expansion of the footprint of the DMC central campus in decades. The CHM Specialty Center - Detroit will house a variety of services in an expanded, more convenient and accessible space, enabling Children's Hospital to decompress and expand care for high volume surgical and specialty services such as heart, cancer and neurological treatment, which will remain in the hospital. The anticipated grand opening will be in 2012.
