Diagnosed with breast cancer more than three years ago, Ortonville resident Carol Rashotte recalls “the bad day” when she received news
of her prognosis.

“I went for my regular mammogram. The doctor had seen spots before, so I wasn’t worried when he called and told me I needed a second mammogram,” she reports.

Genesys climbs extra steps to bring soldier home

Tony Ambrose remembers climbing a ladder to fix his roof back in April, but after that, his memory is shaky. He does recall clearly that
the fall not only saved his life, but gave him a chance to see his son before he was deployed to Iraq, thanks to Genesys.

Tony’s wife Cindy took her husband to Genesys immediately after she heard him fall, and saw how disoriented he was. He arrived at the Genesys Health Park emergency department with fractured ribs and a concussion, however a CT scan revealed much more.

Genesys improves quality of life for heart patient

I wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t for Dr. Dobies (David Dobies, MD,interventional cardiologist with the Genesys Heart Institute),” announces Charlene Hunt.

The 58-year-old mother of three from Davison has struggled with congestive heart failure for a few years now. She’s had two heart bypasses, but her chronic medical condition was continuing to slow her down. Charlene’s doctor – Suresh Gupta, MD, an internal medicine specialist with Genesys – knew another heart bypass was too risky.

Woman owes her health and life to Genesys

Lomie Yoder has dropped more than 50 pounds since joining the Genesys Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention Enhancement program about one year ago. “My blood pressure also has gone down a lot,” she is very pleased to report, “and I’ve added weights to my exercise routine.”

Lomie suffers from cardiomyopathy, a condition where the heart becomes abnormally enlarged, weak, and less able to pump enough blood to meet the body’s oxygen needs. About 27,000 Americans die from this disease every year because it often is detected too late.

Genesys gives woman new knees, and a new life

I have a new lease on life, thanks to Genesys!” announces Jacque McGuire.

After injections in her knees no longer relieved the pain, she sought the help of Frederick Schreiber, DO, orthopedic surgeon at Genesys, who performed double knee replacement surgery.

“I was so tired of living in misery,” Jacque recalls. “I wanted this surgery.”
