Maine Lawmakers Vote for Healthy Kids

Maine’s children returning to school this fall have some new help from their state legislators to eat better and move more.

Thanks to the advocacy work of more than 50 member organizations of Health Policy Partners, Maine became the third state to pass a statewide menu labeling policy. New policies include a statewide review of physical education practices and a protocol for collecting body mass index data to help inform future policies.

According to Anna Moorman, of Health Policy Partners, "This legislation is an important step to reduce obesity in Maine. Our state was the first in the nation to propose menu labeling and we continue to be a leader for the nation in obesity and public health policies."  Download the full story.
