NLH Physician Receives Board Certification in Medical Management

Steven Powell, MD, MPH of New London Hospital has been designated as a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management.

The Certifying Commission, a not-for-profit corporation chartered by the American College of Physician Executives, awarded Dr. Powell the status of CPE for his educational achievements, demonstrated leadership and experience in medical management. Fewer than 2,000 physicians in the world have successfully met the established standards to be recognized as a Certified Physician Executive.

Dr. Powell is Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Psychiatric Services at New London Hospital. He holds a medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia and a Master of Public Health degree from The Dartmouth Institute. He completed residencies in Internal Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Psychiatry at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
